Tree Time is an distant cousin of my my very popular Painted Forest pattern. The boho-chic cousin who lives in a VW bus and puts flowers in her/his hair, you know the one. Every block is unique, even though every block is constructed along similar lines and in pairs.
More improv, less structure, faster construction (with careful organization mind you). If Painted Forest is dressed to the nines for a New Year’s Eve Party - Tree Time is ready for a picnic and surfing at Malibu Beach.
When selecting fabrics for Tree Time, plan to both coordinate and mix busily patterned prints with solid or textural or much less busy patterns. The key to make them work well is good contrast either in color or value or scale, or various combinations of any such contrast. You will have a blast making these, and most likely become slightly addicted to this process by the time you make one quilt. You will be making more!
