This busy quilt is a boisterous combination of blocks filled with movement, repetition, and a touch of chaos, much like many downtown centers. The State Street from my childhood was in a quiet
suburban town where my grandmother lived and my mother grew
up. Lots of strawberry fields and family-owned shops. The name has a very nostalgic and cozy
comfortability for me. I hope you enjoy this project and are able to give it your own sense of
home, as well.
The main kick to this quilt is the highlight of 5 large “fussy-cut” squares. All other fabrics are more scrappy in nature and create the happy, colorful clamor of this project. These large squares give your eyes a few spots to rest. There are some other rest stops for your eyes to rest as well. It is up to you how busy or calm your State Street is.
